John Adams

Introducing John Adams, a seasoned fisherman with a wealth of experience spanning over 45 years. John has fished all over the world, from the waters of Australia and the Pacific Islands to the coasts of Africa and beyond. His incredible journey began at Stewart Island as a crayfisherman.

John holds a Skippers Fishing Vessel Unlimited Ticket, the highest certification attainable in New Zealand, reflecting his extensive expertise in the field. Throughout his career, he has trawled for a variety of species, including orange roughy, hoki, prawns, and scampi, and has also spent a bit of time longlining in the Pacific.

Transitioning to the charter industry as he begins to semi-retire, John saw an opportunity to explore something new and exciting, having never spent significant time in Fiordland before. His favourite part of the job is the people and the place. John loves meeting diverse groups of people and working alongside his amazing colleagues, who make every trip special.

Fiordland's stunning beauty is a constant source of joy for John, and he says that it would be hard to have a bad trip in a place as beautiful as Fiordland. He works extremely hard to make sure that every trip is special for his passengers and loves being able to work out a plan day by day to ensure everyone gets the experience they hoped for.
